Clare’s ‘Celebration of Life’ Ball
Clare Molyneaux, seen here in this lovely photograph, before going to a ‘celebration of life ball’ arranged to thank her husband Steve, friends, family and work colleagues for supporting her through the difficult times.
‘Nearly four years ago I was given the very hard news – “you have a tumour on the left side”. The consultant himself didn’t use the ‘c-word’ and it did take me a couple of days to use it myself.Following further investigation, cancer was also found in the right side. To cut a very long story short, double mastectomy, chemo, radiotherapy and now reconstruction, I have come out the other side.
Without everyone’s amazing support it would have been a lot harder. Laughing on the darkest days helped immensely. As a thank you to them all, I organized a ‘Celebration of Life Ball’ at Leighton Buzzard Golf Club on 27th May. As part of this, Steve and I wanted hold a raffle to raise funds towards the Cancer Care and Haematology Unit at Stoke Mandeville Hospital who cared for me so well and Scanner Appeal- without such incredible technology many cancers would go undetected
We approached local businesses and the following donated prizes; Woburn Ale House, The Black Horse at Woburn, The Cod & Waffle, Freeway Lift Services Ltd, Eden Beauty, Jules, Leighton Buzzard Golf Club, Leighway Maintenance Ltd, Majestic Wine in L/B, Mama Rosa’s, Me, Me, Me, Metalyka, MK Dons, MK Tyres, Morrisons in L/B, Pecks Farm Shop, Sorellis, Strattons, Waitrose in L/B, Wild Wood and Yirrell’s Butcher. A massive thank you to them as well as to friends who donated time to help and prizes, making it a huge success.
We danced and laughed a lot, and, to date, we have raised £2,550.
