Richard’s Half Marathon run raises £478
Dr Richard Smith, who is a junior paediatrics doctor at Stoke Mandeville Hospital training to be a GP, has raised the princely sum of £478 for CCHF by running a half marathon.
Richard ran the race in Birmingham in a terrific time of 1hr 42.20.
Said Richard: “The run went very well considering my extremely brief training regime. The weather forecast on the day was dire but in the end it was completely dry, with some sun thrown in, too.
“If only they could have removed the huge hill that had to be scaled in the penultimate mile – things were going rather well until then! Except that after 9.5 miles, the wheels were clearly coming off!
“I felt pretty chuffed with having raise some decent money as well as forcing my body back into some form of fitness, even though I was in considerable pain after the race – and, of course, the next morning.”
Well done, Richard, and thanks from everyone at the Cancer Care and Haematology Unit.
