Tesco workers put their best foot forward to raise funds for CCHF

An intrepid group of work colleagues have raised more than £1,800 for CCHF as a result of a sponsored walk along the Thames Path in Oxfordshire.

It was organised by Claire who is undergoing treatment at the Cancer Care & Haematology Unit at Stoke Mandeville Hospital near Aylesbury.

Claire told us: From my own experience I see how hard the team in the Unit work and really wanted to be able to support in any way I could for future patients and for the Unit.”

Claire works for Tesco's Abingdon Extra store and her team of management colleagues wanted to support her and get involved to help raise funds. Called the “Claire Bear Bunch” the walkers set off from the Nag's Head pub in Abingdon on 13 September and followed the Thames Path towards Oxford.

Luckily enough the rain held off and we had a great team day and were all in high spirits at the end of the walk ... or that may have been because we ended the walk at the pub!”, added Claire.

The Claire Bear Bunch surpassed their original target of raising £1,000 and, although the walk is over, they're hoping eventually to pass the £2,000 mark.

We'd like to thank Claire, all of the walkers and Tesco for their support and donations! It's generosity like this that allows CCHF to continue to support the wonderful cancer care and haematology treatment units run by Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust at Stoke Mandeville and Wycombe hospitals.
