Fundraising for CCHF - at the double!

Two women undergoing treatment at the Cancer Care and Haematology Unit (CCHU) at Stoke Mandeville Hospital are planning a series of fundraising events this year.

Joanna Swinton-Bland, who has endometrial cancer, and Paula Tompkins, who is being treated for breast cancer, are hoping their efforts will provide further support for patients and staff at CCHU.

Joanna told us that they have both received most of their treatments in Room 10 of CCHU: “We have both been so impressed and so grateful for the dedication of the staff there - and are so grateful for the treatment we are receiving - that we both decided to try to raise more money for you to go towards improving the environment, resources, etc., for both patients and staff.”

She explained: “We've started small, and so far have had people 'naming a teddy', 'guessing the number of sweets in a jar', along with selling sweets and treats for Easter and raffling an Easter wreath. So far we've raised nearly £300.”

Joanna and Paula are also organising a cake sale Tuesday, 23 April, from 11.15am to 1.00pm in Haddenham Village Hall (all cake donations gratefully received!), and also a table top sale in the village hall on Sunday 9 June from 2.00pm to 4.00pm (sellers 1.00pm and a table costs £12).

Thank you ladies for your splendid efforts – we at the Cancer Care and Haematology Fund are really thankful!

Incredible fundraising by all of our supporters enables CCHF to provide additional comforts for those undergoing treatment, as well as funding special clinical equipment, free wigs for patients and a specialist cancer information and support service.
