Teddy bears get a festive make-over

Becky's Bears have been dressed up for Christmas!

These cheerful little felt bears have been sewn by a team of local stitching volunteers for nearly 10 years and were named in memory of a former patient who sadly died in 2013.

The money raised goes towards the funding of a wig service for patients undergoing chemotherapy at Stoke Mandeville's Cancer Care and Haematology Unit (CCHU) and the Sunrise Unit at Wycombe Hospital.

For many patients facing chemotherapy, the news that they may lose their hair causes great distress. Since 2011, fundraising has enabled our charity to ensure that the Wigs for Patients service is free for cancer patients at Stoke Mandeville and Wycombe hospitals.

Available early on in treatment planning, this service is provided by Raoul who have specialised in wig-making since 1899 and provide a service for NHS cancer patients, so fully understand the range of issues faced.

All money from the sale of Becky's Christmas Bears – which are available at the CCHU reception desk in Stoke Mandeville - goes towards providing this wonderful service.
