Fundraising Round-up!

We've had a number of valuable donations from our supporters in recent months for which we are always really grateful. Here are three of them:

  • £685 was raised by Suzanne Wilson who took part in the Rotary Club of Buckingham's 10th annual charity Swimathon at Buckingham’s Swan Pool recently. Suzanne is the daughter of the late June Wilson, a founding trustee of CCHF and the driving force behind the charity. Her vision and indefatigable energy were vital for the success of CCHF and the building of the Cancer Care and Haematology Unit at Stoke Mandeville Hospital. Suzanne said she “wanted to do something in her memory now that we’re all back to living our normal lives post the coronavirus pandemic”.

  • £510 was raised by the Thame with the Vale of Aylesbury Primestock Show (part of at their dinner earlier this year. CCHF was again chosen by the Primestock Show Committee because, says Charlotte Baxter from the committee, “it's a cause close to their hearts”. The committee holds a raffle/lottery and auctions off joints of meat which have been donated.

  • £250 was raised for us at an Open Garden and Spring Lambs event at Cholesbury, near Tring, at Easter, organised by Cathy Maund (with a similar amount raised for Rennie Grove Hospice). Lucky visitors also had a chance to view newly born lambs on a nearby farm. Cathy is a director of Hammersmith Community Gardens Association (HCGA), a local environmental charity set up in 1984. HCGA manage four community gardens in the London Borough of Hammersmith & Fulham and have a range of projects including conservation training schemes and volunteer gardening sessions. There are also health and wellbeing projects including Grow Well, for people with long term health conditions, weekly bedside gardening sessions at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital and the charity have also created gardens at Charing Cross Hospital and at an ambulance call centre.

Thank you again to everyone who contributed and who is helping us to improve the experience of those needing treatment for cancer and haematology illnesses in Buckinghamshire.
