Bears score again with football shirt!

A Tottenham Hotspur football shirt signed by first team players has been successfully auctioned off by the The Bear Golf Society to raise funds for CCHF.

One of the Bears' members bid a whopping £450 for the framed shirt (pictured) and the golfers topped the donation up to a generous £500 for our charity.

But the event is only one in a long line of brilliant fundraising activities organised by the Bears for CCHF over more than 20 years and they have become one of our strongest supporters.

The Bear Golf Society was formed in 2001 following 10 years of a very successful annual Adams Travel charity golf day that raised funds for the Cancer Care and Haematology Unit at Stoke Mandeville Hospital. The Bears carried on the fundraising for the Unit with eight or nine meetings a year instead of annually. It is estimated that the Bears have raised more than £25,000 for CCHF since 2001!

One of the main successes of the society is that they represent mixed standards and abilities whose members have fun in the process of raising funds not only for CCHF – their chosen charity – but also for several other charities throughout the year.Bear Golf Society

The group has continued to grow, with 60 members and fields of around 30 players for most meetings. Among the events remaining for this year include Northampton Golf Club, Stocks Golf Club near Tring and the end-of-season event at The Oxfordshire near Thame in November.

We at CCHF are very grateful for all the hard work and donations made by the Bears over the years and, as a result we have been able to support exceptional cancer treatment facilities across Buckinghamshire, and specifically the Cancer Care and Haematology Unit at Stoke Mandeville and the Sunrise Unit at Wycombe Hospital.
