Early festive boost for charity
Christmas has come a little early for the Cancer Care and Haematology Fund!
Thanks to the annual Christmas raffle and sweet stall organised by the reception team at the Cancer Care and Haematology Unit (CCHU) at Stoke Mandeville Hospital we have received a super donation of £3,161!
“The incredibly hard work of the reception staff on top of their regular jobs, and the fundraising results they achieve every Christmas and Easter, continues to astound us all at the charity and we are very, very grateful,” said Mike Snell, a Trustee at CCHF. “We are so thankful for all of the patients and their families, staff, visitors and business supporters who make this a wonderful boost to our funds every year”.
This year the raffle raised £2,072.47, with £970.40 on the sweets stall and £119.00 on the sale of Christmas cards – a total of £3,161.87, another record amount from CCHU!
Members of the hard-working and welcoming reception team at CCHU again made all of the arrangements for the raffle including organising donations, wrapping the prizes, promoting the competition and contacting the winners. Help also came again from team member Julie O'Sullivan's daughters Emma and Holly.
All the proceeds will go to the Cancer Care and Haematology Fund. CCHF was set up in 1990 to raise money to fund the construction of the specialist unit at Stoke Mandeville which opened in 2001. Today the charity continues to provide financial support for Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust's treatment facilities at both CCHU and the Sunrise Unit at Wycombe Hospital as well as as well as in community settings across Buckinghamshire and neighbouring counties.
