Volunteering

“My husband was a patient in CCHU some years ago. I felt I wanted to give something back. The care and consideration that we experienced during his time receiving treatment made me look into becoming a volunteer. The benefits for me as a volunteer are enormous. I meet some very interesting people, who like to talk about their families, friends and their working life. In fact any thing. My role is to listen. Supporting the nurses and doctors in doing anything they want me to do, helping to make it as comfortable an atmosphere as possible for the patients to be in. I look forward to my time in the CCHU every week. I feel privileged to help in such a centre of excellence.”

Ann Cleaver, Volunteer

We have volunteers who work in the treatment area like Ann, talking to the patients, making drinks and snacks and running messages for the nurses. We have volunteers working in office areas and in reception and we are always on the look out for a gardener who might help us maintain the gardens and tubs!
