The Bears carry on putting!

It's been another successful year for the Bear Golf Society – both on and off the courses. And for local charities that means one thing: lots of cash raised for good causes!

Despite the society's first golfing event of 2023 being cancelled due to snow and their last meeting of the season cancelled due to rain, the Bears have successfully donated £2,445 to various charities – including £1,095 to CCHF, the charity which supports the Cancer Care and Haematology Unit at Stoke Mandeville Hospital, Aylesbury.

Formed in 2001 the Bears have a membership of more than 65 enthusiastic local golfers. They normally play once a month between March and November with fields averaging 30, although a recent record was 44 players using a two-tee start! The Bears have been fundraising for CCHF for more than 20 years and have become one of our most successful supporters, having raised many thousands of pounds for us in that time.

The Bears already have their 2024 season planned, with their first meeting of the season planned for 26 March at Buckingham Golf Club.

As a result of the wonderful efforts by supporters and fundraisers like the Bears CCHF is able to continue supporting Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust's exceptional cancer treatment across Buckinghamshire, and specifically the Cancer Care and Haematology Unit at Stoke Mandeville and the Sunrise Unit at Wycombe Hospital.

If you're planning to fundraise for us, we'd love to hear from you at Contact Us, or go to Support to see what we do.
