That's the spirit! Tiki Night is a success

The wonderful people of Winchmore Hill, near Amersham, rallied around cancer patient Hilary Stoneman recently to raise funds for the Cancer Care and Haematology Fund. They raised a spectacular £1,065!

Here's Hilary's story …

"Last year was a tough year for my family, especially for my husband Chris and our two boys Harvey and Luke, adapting to the new routine of chemotherapy treatment and the side effects that unfortunately accompany this path, following my breast cancer diagnosis. It’s always hard for those on the sidelines, caring as best they can.

Equally, I wouldn’t have coped nearly as well without the wonderful support and care of both High Wycombe Hospital Sunrise Unit and Stoke Mandeville Cancer Care and Haematology Unit; not forgetting the cancer care team Vicki, Anna, Rickson, Megan, Ruth and Dr Davidson, my oncologist, to name just a few dedicated NHS medical professionals who managed my care programme and recovery! How would I ever thank them, now that I was luckily through to the other side, recovering well?

Being a big advocate for charity fundraising, I thought we should aim to give something back to the CCHF so our village friends struck on the idea of hosting a Tiki Night – a cocktail night hosted by our local gin distillery – Griffiths Bros.

We had a fabulous night as the photos show, indulging in the drinks and being joined by so many friends. We raised £1,065 which we hope will make a difference to future treatments and commitments driven by the CCHF.

Thanks for everything!"
