Pool players are right on cue!
By CCHF in fundraiser sport pool

Aylesbury Vale's pool players have racked up another big fundraising success for local charities.
A one-off charity match day in July was organised by the Aylesbury Invitation Pool League (AIPL) and held at the Bradmoor Farm Sports Bar in Haddenham.
On this occasion it was decided that all the proceeds would be split equally between AIPL's then charity partner Youth Concern and the Cancer Care and Haematology Fund (CCHF). We have now received a wonderful donation of £1,730!
AIPL Internet/Media Officer James Connor explained: “We’re thrilled to see our players and supporters once again come together for such a good cause. During the 2023-24 season, our league raised more than £5,000 for CCHF, and this latest event shows how strong our community spirit continues to be.
“This match day was especially meaningful, as we rallied together after our own pool community member, Ash, was diagnosed with colon cancer. Thanks to the fantastic work of the CCHU, Ash is now officially cancer free — and that makes our fundraising efforts feel even more personal and worthwhile."
James added: “On behalf of the league, I’d like to thank everyone who contributed, whether by playing, donating, or simply showing up on the day. Together, we’ve made a real difference to two charities doing vital work in our community."
Mike Snell, CCHF Trustee, commented: “We weren't expecting this! AIPL had already done so much for us when we were their charity partner a couple of years ago. We are so grateful for the generosity and thoughtfulness of pool players across the Aylesbury Vale and to the Bradmoor Farm Sports Bar for their part in making this special day happen.”
CCHF was originally established in 1997 to fund the building of the specialist Cancer Care and Haematology Unit at Stoke Mandeville Hospital, near Aylesbury. The charity has continued to support the wonderful work that is done, not only in this unit, but also by the wider cancer and haematology service provided by Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust.
