Donations provide a New Year boost
By CCHF in fundraiser New Year donation CCHF
What a wonderful start to the New Year we've had, with donations and fundraising winging in from across Buckinghamshire. They have come from a huge mixture of different sources including a raffle and sales fundraiser, golfers, flowers and carol singers!
We start with the Christmas raffle, sweetie and Christmas card sales organised, as usual by the incredible reception team at Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust's Cancer Care and Haematology Unit (CCHU) at Stoke Mandeville Hospital.

In recent years the team have raised thousands of pounds for the CCHF charity through their raffles organised every Christmas and Easter. A huge number of prizes are sourced and then beautifully packaged and displayed in the reception area of CCHU for patients, their families, staff and visitors to try their luck by buying raffle tickets.
This Christmas the team raised a total of £2,855 from the raffle and sales of sweeties and cards.
One senior cancer nurse at CCHU said of the fundraiser and the reception team: “It is hard to put into words just how amazing this is and what a fantastic amount of money this is! Your hard work will yet again enable amazing support to be provided to our cancer patients – the wonderful ‘extras’ that make an incredible difference to the way our patients experience their cancer care.”

The Bear Golf Society didn't disappoint in 2025 either. These enthusiastic amateur golfers raised £1,000 for CCHF (the Society's chosen charity), as well as contributing a further £1,125 to other local charities. This year will be their 25th since their formation and the Bears have raised thousands of pounds for CCHF over that period. They go forward into 2026 in great shape and with more than 65 members.

We received a donation of £108 from the High Wycombe and District Horticultural Society this month. It follows a donation of £1,000 last year which was made in memory of the Society's long-time member and former president, William (Bill) Lewis, who died in 2025. Sadly the Society is being wound up and the latest donation was as a result of the closure of the financial accounts and the sale of trophies no longer needed.

As part of our Christmas charitable donations the Parochial Church Council of St Nicholas, Cublington, chose to donate the proceeds of their annual village carol singing in December - £378 - to CCHF. The PCC were keen to support our charity in memory of a much-loved Cublington villager who died last year.
We are immeasurably grateful to everyone who has made the above donations or contributed to the associated fundraising. It gives us confidence that we can continue to provide meaningful financial assistance for patients being treated for cancer and haematology illnesses across Buckinghamshire.
