Joe's big Family Fun Day will boost CCHF!

If you're looking for a great family day out next month, look no further than the Royal British Legion Club in High Wycombe!

One of our staunchest supporters, Joe White, is organising a fun event on Saturday, 13 August – and all proceeds will be donated to Buckinghamshire charity, the Cancer Care and Haematology Fund.

Joe has a special reason for staging this super event, which has already been months in the planning: he was diagnosed with renal cancer in 2017 and is continuing with his treatment: “I started my treatment at the Cancer Care and Haematology Unit at Stoke Mandeville and later was also looked after at the Sunrise Unit at Wycombe Hospital, which is nearer to home. All of the treatment I've received has been amazing,” he explained.

Joe, aged 42, now feels he wants to give something back by raising cash for CCHF.

Joe and his wife Carly, who has been supporting him in organising the fun day next month, live in Chalfont St Giles with their four children.

CCHF was set up in 1990 to raise funds to help patients diagnosed with cancer or blood disorders by funding the construction of a specialist unit at Stoke Mandeville Hospital, near Aylesbury. Today the charity continues to provide financial support for Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust treatment facilities at both Stoke Mandeville and the Sunrise Unit at Wycombe Hospital.

The Family Fun Day will be held at the Royal British Legion, 11 Cock Lane, High Wycombe, HP13 7DE, starting at noon and running through until midnight. It's an open day so entry tickets are not required. The event will feature stalls, a tombola and raffle (for which there are some super prizes - see pictures below - including a 50” smart TV!), food and refreshments and some great music. You can find more information on Joe's Facebook page, or you can join Joe's Cancer Care & Haematology Fund Raising Group on Facebook.

We are, as ever, so grateful for the efforts that Joe and his family are making to raise money for our charity. We can only encourage as many people as possible to get along to High Wycombe on 13 August to support them. Enjoy your day!
