Celebrations for cancer service staff
CCHF trustees are delighted that two teams from the cancer and haematology service were successful in Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust's annual awards event at Aylesbury's Waterside Theatre recently.
The awards are to celebrate some of the remarkable people working or volunteering in BHT's hospitals and community settings.
The Outstanding Acute Care Award went to the Cancer Care and Haematology Unit (CCHU) and the Sunrise Unit receptionists, and data activity clerks. The citation reads: “The cancer and haematology reception and data activity clerks deliver compassionate, professional, and dedicated support to patients during their cancer journey. As the initial point of contact, they provide a welcoming environment, emotional reassurance, and clear information, while working closely with clinical teams to improve patient care and streamline operations. Their empathy, adaptability, and commitment to patient-centred service make them an invaluable asset to the care team.”
The Cancer Information and Wellbeing Service were runners-up in the People’s Award for Personal and Compassionate Care category. This service was established to ensure that people affected by cancer in Buckinghamshire have access to good quality, comprehensive and appropriate information and support. And of course a cup of tea!
