Aston Clinton magazine lends their support

An Aylesbury Vale community magazine has provided us with a generous donation in lieu of sending Christmas cards last year!

Village Life is a local community magazine which is delivered free to every home in Aston Clinton, Buckland and Drayton Beauchamp (plus some to pubs and cafés).

Focused on local news and events, the magazine carries advertising and makes a small surplus after costs and donates some of this to local organisations.

Editor Richard Vincent from the magazine explained: “We have a small committee but also rely on a network of local contributors, advertisers and distributors - all volunteers. For the last few years, as a small gesture of appreciation for their help, we have sent out a Christmas card.

This last Christmas, though, we thought it would be more appropriate to donate the money we normally spend on cards and postage to charity and send an email to our supporters explaining our idea and giving them details of the two chosen charities in case they also wanted to contribute. We were very encouraged by the number of people who came back to us to say they agreed it was a great idea.”

Subsequently, the magazine donated £100 to CCHF, which we were delighted to receive and we're grateful to the people of Aston Clinton!

The Cancer Care and Haematology Fund is a charity set up to help those with cancer and haematology related diseases in Buckinghamshire. Through public fundraising a specialist unit – the CCHU - was built and opened in January 2001 at Stoke Mandeville Hospital. The charity continues to provide financial support to Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust for projects and services which benefit patients cared for at the CCHU, the Sunrise Unit at Wycombe Hospital and in community settings across Buckinghamshire and adjacent counties.
